On 10th May 2014, Mark took part in the Lincoln Grand Prix Sportive, a 75 mile ride, finishing at the famous Lincoln Cathedral after riding the 320 metre cobbled climb of Michaelgate.

The weather for the day was extremely poor, strong winds and frequent heavy showers made the ride one of attrition. With a tailwind to start, the first 20 miles was covered in under an hour, the joy had to end when we turned into the headwind that seemed to be there all the way back!!

Great food stops with much cake (Simon would have been in his element!!), there was also a huge spread at the finish along with free massage (I took my own masseur), clothing and equipment stalls made a good day.

The hotel we stayed in had the Pro’s staying there in preparation for Sunday’s Lincoln Grand Prix. A good opportunity to sit and have a chat with the riders and Managers.

The Lincoln Grand Prix will host the British National Road Race Championships in 2015, maybe an opportunity to get a few together and make a weekend of it!!
