With Abdu and JB both incapacitated this year, Trix MM took the group on a different route through Suffolk and Essex.
We were all a bit apprehensive when Giles turned up (Colchester Rovers TT champion), but as always he was great company.
0800 hours start and we headed out through West Bergholt and Stratford St Mary to Alton Water reservoir. We were met here by Graham and Nick. It’s a good coffee stop, they are very welcoming of cyclists and plenty of room to park bikes and sit in or outside. Then we headed off west towards Hadleigh, Boxford , Edwardstone and Long Melford. Unfortunately it absolutely poured down for a lot of this 40 mile stretch, stopping just early enough for us to dry out a little before our second stop at Platform 1 cafe at Clare. Again very welcoming and they had reserved a table for us inside as the weather was unpredictable.
Home from Clare was pretty much due South to Bocking and Stisted and it seemed compulsory to finish off with a ride over Flanders.
Well done to Sam for breaking his ‘Ton Duck’ and thanks to Steve for the filming of the ride.
It was a great group to ride with, thank you all for your Company and safe riding (one notable exception- you know who you are!).
